Boleslaw II of Cieszyn (also Boleslaw II, Bolko II, * 1425, † October 8, 1452 ) was from 1431 until his death in 1452 the Duke of Teschen. He came from the family of the Silesian Piast dynasty.

Life

Boleslaw parents were the same Teschen Duke Boleslaw I. and Eufemia of Mazovia. On January 28, 1448 he married Anna Bielsko († 1490 ), daughter of the Moscow Province Governor Fyodor Bielski. The couple had children

  • Casimir II († 1528), ∞ 1480 Johanna, daughter of the Duke of Münsterberg Viktorin and Opava from his first marriage to Margaret, daughter of Hynek Ptáček of Pirkstein.

After the death of his father Boleslaw I. 1431 Boleslaw II inherited along with his brothers Wenceslas I, Władysław II and Primislaus its possession. Since they were not yet of age, they were initially under the tutelage of her mother, who also exercised the regency over the duchy to 1442. Following the division this year, Boleslaw II received a part of the Duchy of Teschen, that was, however, ruled de facto by his older brother Primislaus II.

Unlike his brother Władysław, who allied with Bohemia, Bolesław II maintained good relations with the Polish throne. To obtain an independent dominion, he exchanged in 1452 a part of its territory against a part of Bytom. The government there, he could not compete because he died shortly thereafter. The standard sequence Teschen Dukes was after the death of Boleslaw brothers Wladislaus († 1460 ), Wenzel ( † 1474 ) and Primislaus II († 1477 ) and of Boleslaw II 's only son Casimir II continued.
