Borough of Scarborough

Scarborough is an administrative district with the status of a borough in the county of North Yorkshire in England. Administrative center is the city of Scarborough, just under half of the population lives. Other important towns are Filey and Whitby.

The district was formed on 1 April 1974 and evolved from a fusion of different authorities. From the East Riding of Yorkshire, these were the Filey Urban District and part of the Bridlington Rural District, from the North Riding of Yorkshire Municipal Borough of Scarborough, the Urban Districts Scalby and Whitby and Scarborough Rural District and Whitby.

There is a county partnership to the district of Osterode am Harz.
