Bracknell Forest

Bracknell Forest is a unitary authority and borough in the county of Berkshire. It not only covers the garden city Bracknell with its administrative seat and the surrounding villages Binfield, Crowthorne, Sandhurst, Warfield and Winkfield.

The local authority was established on 1 April 1974 as a District Bracknell. In May 1988, it was given the status of a Borough and the name was changed in Bracknell Forest. As the County of Berkshire was dissolved April 1, 1988, Bracknell Forest became a Unitary Authority.

Since 1973, Bracknell Forest maintained a twinning with the German town Opladen, which was taken over by the incorporation of Leverkusen.
