City of Peterborough

The City of Peterborough is an administrative unit with the status of a unitary authority ( county-level city ) in England. It includes the city of Peterborough and the surrounding villages. The City of Peterborough is located essentially in the area of the traditional county of Northamptonshire.

The management unit was established in 1975 through a merger of the Borough of Peterborough with the Old Fletton Urban District, the Rural Districts Barnack and Thorney Rural District and parts of Norman Cross. These areas were previously the administrative county Huntingdon and Peterborough.
