James Bradley Johnson (born 13 September 1968, Marietta, Georgia) is an American former American football player at the position of quarterback. He played in the National Football League ( NFL), most recently for the Dallas Cowboys.

Playing career

College

Johnson played football and basketball for the team of Florida State University, the Florida State Seminoles. During his career in college football, he experienced the first height and depth, and only came in his final season in 1991, a significant number of inserts. Nevertheless, he completed during his career 66.9 % of his pass attempts and scored eight touchdowns.

Professional career

Johnson's professional career began slowly. It was only in the eighth round of the 1992 NFL Draft, he was selected by the Minnesota Vikings at 227th place. Quarterbacks that were far committed before him, like David Klingler or Tommy Maddox came up not to Johnson's success.

As his college career was also the professional career of Johnson at the beginning very changeable. With the Vikings, he initially could not prevail, and came only in 1994 and 1995 to a few missions. 1996 gave the Vikings from Johnson to the NFL Europe to the London Monarchs. Johnson was there to experience. Although the crew of the Monarchs at best represented mediocrity this year, I managed to convince Johnson and return to the Vikings. After the -budgetary quarterback of the Vikings, Warren Moon, was injured in the 1996 season, Johnson came time as a starter. He threw 17 touchdowns with ten interceptions and was thus able to secure his place. The Vikings moved into the play-offs, had to be there but the Dallas Cowboys with 40:15 to admit defeat. 1997 was followed by another successful year with the Vikings. Get him 20 touchdowns. Here he also achieved one of the strangest moves of the NFL history when his litter was blocked in the game against the Carolina Panthers, he grabbed the football out of the air and ran it into the end zone for a touchdown. Johnson is today (2012 ) is the only NFL player who finished off a touchdown throw to themselves. When choosing the " happiest moves of the NFL " on NFL.com reached this "self - touchdown " 9th place

1998 Johnson lost his starting place to Randall Cunningham, who played an outstanding season. The team lost only in the NFC Championship game against the Atlanta Falcons. Since it appeared unlikely for the coach of the Vikings, Dennis Green that Johnson Cunningham would displace again can ( was especially attracted by the Vikings with Daunte Culpepper a young quarterback added ), Johnson was given to the Washington Redskins. A fact that should come soon incomprehension in Minneapolis, since Johnson's individual performance in the Redskins in the following season were outstanding. He threw 1999 passes for a room total profit of 4005 yards, the second- most the a quarterback this team had ever scored. His 24 touchdowns were offset by 13 interception. The move into the play-offs was the result, but there he failed in their game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers close to 14:13. After another - this time unsuccessful - Year in Washington DC He then moved in 2001 to the Buccaneers.

Before the 2002 season, the team from Florida Jon Gruden had as their new coach of the Oakland Raiders. Against the team from Oakland, the Buccaneers played on 26 January 2003 at Super Bowl XXXVII in San Diego. Gruden, of course, knew the players of the opposing team very well, presented his new team very well. The Super Bowl went with 48:21 to Florida. Johnson himself scored two touchdowns.

2004 Johnson lost his place in Tampa to Brian Griese and moved a year later back to the Vikings. There he repressed Culpepper injury as number 1 on the position of quarterback, but could not move into the play-offs with his team.

Since 2007, Johnson was the second quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys Tony Romo behind. Johnson should be in the next three years with his experience to help Romo introduce best in the world, but was released in February 2009 and replaced by Jon Kitna.

During his NFL - time 61.8 % of his passes were caught. In 13 consecutive seasons of 60% of his passes were caught. He was the first and to date (2012 ) only to have managed this. In 2002, he had the highest quarterback rating in the National Football Conference. He scored 166 touchdowns passes by at 122 interceptions during the games of the regular season. Eight touchdowns he could Walk itself.
