On the church hill in St. Georgen colonization was detected in the Early Bronze Age and also on the Weberpalfen in Gries im Pinzgau finds evidence of Bronze Age copper recovery of prehistoric settlement.

The Illyrians and Celts settled in the area of Bruck just like the Romans. Subsequently, the Bavarians did settle down and mingled with the local population. The first mention of Prugg in Pinzgrey took place in 1227th Since the completion of the Grossglockner High Alpine Road in 1935 the place is called Bruck an der Grossglockner road. In 1938, the independent village of St. Georgen was incorporated.

Coat of arms

After the Second World War, the efforts to create a own coat of arms municipality were intensified again in Bruck, there was a new design, which was included in the official seal of the municipality. This former unofficial coat of arms had provided the Eismadonna as a coat of arms. Considering the fact that several communities in the region Pinzgau also led the Madonna as the heraldic symbol of a long time ago, it has discouraged this type of coat of arms design.

As offered in subsequent years but again the connection with the name bridge over the river, along with about a crosier, versinnbildlichend the close affiliation with the Lord at Schloss Fischhorn, the Bishop of Chiemsee, at. This type of representation was met with heraldists but with little enthusiasm.

After much deliberation it was decided then but a so-called speaking crest, which was created by Prof. Mag Gerd Nowotny and was also awarded by the Government of Salzburg on September 17, 1976, the Municipality: This crest shows the silver shield a green tricuspid mountain, in front of a silver zweijochige bridge over a blue river.
