Brzeźnica, Opole Voivodeship

Bresnitz (Polish: Brzeźnica ) is a town in Upper Silesia. Bresnitz located in the municipality Zülz ( Biała) in Prudnicki powiat (district Neustadt OS) in the Polish Opole Voivodeship.

Geographical Location

Bresnitz is located six kilometers north of the parish seat Zülz, 16 kilometers northeast of the county town of Prudnik ( Neustadt OS ) and 30 kilometers south of the Opole voivodship ( Opole ).

Neighboring towns of Pogosch are in the northwest Piechocice ( Piechotzütz ), in the north Fronzke ( Frączki ) and Pogosch ( Foothills ), in the northeast Lonschnik ( Łącznik ), in the southeast Mokrau ( Mokra ) and in the southwest Ernestine mountain ( Górka Prudnicka ) and Kolonia Ligocka ( Colony Ellguth ).

History

The town was first mentioned in 1384 as " Bresnicz ". 1865 had the place at that time written Brzesnitz, 13 gardeners and 19 smallholdings. 1884 a Catholic school was built.

In the plebiscite in Upper Silesia on March 20, 1921 351 voters voted to remain in Germany and 19 for Poland. Bresnitz remained with the German Reich. On 15 June 1936, the town was renamed in Brese. On April 1, 1939 Brese was incorporated by Ernestine mountain. By 1945, the place was in the district of Neustadt OS

In 1945 the previously German place under Polish administration and renamed Brzeźnica and joined the Silesian Voivodeship. In 1950, the city came to Opole Voivodeship and since 1999 he is part of the powiat Prudnicki. On 6 March 2006 German was in the community Zülz who belongs Bresnitz, introduced as a second official language. On 24 November 2008, the City also received the official German place names Bresnitz.
