Bucerdea Grânoasă

Bucerdea Grânoasă ( German Botschard or Bothard, Hungarian Búzásbocsárd ) is a town in Alba county in Transylvania, Romania.

Location

Bucerdea Grânoasa located in the southwest of the Transylvanian basin, 3 kilometers north of the river Târnava ( Kokel ) and the national road DN 14B, about 10 kilometers west of the city Blaj and about 30 kilometers north-east from the county capital Alba Iulia.

History

The village Bucerdea Grânoasa was first mentioned in 1303 in records. Its Romanian name of the village received its grain production (Romanian Grâne = cereals). In the Middle Ages the village was mainly from Hungary, later inhabited by Romanians. The population lived mainly from agriculture.

Bucerdea Grânoasă was on 27 April 2006 by the detachment of Craciunelu de Jos an independent municipality with the villages Cornu, PADURE and pANCA.

Attractions

  • The Reformed Church, built in the 16th century, rebuilt in the 18th century and 1868 cultivated a covered with shingles tower stands under monument protection.
