Bürs

Burs is a municipality with 3111 inhabitants (December 31, 2013) at 570 meters above sea level and belongs to the district of Bludenz in Vorarlberg.

Geography

The municipality is located in the westernmost province of Austria, Vorarlberg, at an altitude of 555-2643 m above sea level. M. and has an area of 24.6 km ². 46.0 % of the area is forested, 16.0 % of the area Alps.

Policy

The municipal council consists of 24 members. The composition of the 2010 election is:

  • Mayor Georg Bucher - Socialists and Free Party: 12 seats,
  • Gerd Kaufmann - Bürser People's Party and Independent: 7 seats,
  • Active for brush: 4 seats,
  • Freedom Party of Austria (FPÖ ) and free party candidates brush: 1 seat

Mayor Georg Bucher of the Social Democratic Party of Austria. Brush making it currently the only municipality in Vorarlberg, headed by a mayor SPÖ.

The municipality revenue from taxes and other charges in 2001 were at 3,105,414 euros, the municipal expenditure at 7,120,119 Euros. The debt was 2001 4.867.961 €.

History

The village " Puire " with church has been mentioned to 820-830. In the Middle Ages, probably in brush and iron mining have played a certain role ( 1355 documentary reference to the " Ysenberg to brush "). In the area of Burs also two castles had emerged, the festivals brush ( destroyed in 1405) and the castle Holenegg (later Rosenegg Castle ).

1548 brush became an independent municipality by separation of Bludenz. At this time were also the independent communities of today and Bürserberg fire to the municipality. The place was formerly repeatedly affected by flood disasters, such as 1762 and 1910 by the Alvierbach.

From 1804 large landslides resulted in the largest Schesatobel Murbruch Europe; the demolition is still widely visible today. Through extensive torrent control since the turn of the century, the dangers were as far curb, that the settlement after 1950 could extend to Schesatobel out. Between 1951 and 1991, the homes of Burs stock has more than doubled.

In 1969, on Bürser municipality part of the Arlberg expressway. In the seventies, the place got a new parish church, a school, a sports and a shopping center, 1987, a new community center. 1991 Designed Brandner road as local bypass.

The proportion of foreigners at the end of 2002 was 14.5 percent.

Economy

Agriculture has been hit hard in the early 19th century by mudflow of the best soils on the alluvial fan - Schesatobel. The establishment of industries therefore was just at this time very welcome. 1826 Foundation of the spinning Getzner, Mutter & Cie. ; been further developed with color-weaving and creation of Getzner chemistry. Development to relatively wealthy industrialized village by presence of several small industrial and commercial enterprises in various industries in the original pasture between Bludenz and brush. In addition, proliferation of commercial transactions ( since 1976 InterSpar ).

In 2003 there were 74 farms in the place of the industrial economy, with 1012 employees and 123 apprentices. The number of wage tax workers was 1379th

In substation brush the world's oldest high-voltage line, the north-south line begins. This first operated at 220 kV three-phase high voltage transmission was built by the Vorarlberg Illwerke AG 1924-1929. Another 220-/380-kV-Leitung that leads from brush to the German border and on to the substation Dellmensingen southwest of Ulm, in the late 1950s came about.

Geographical landmarks

In the developed partly by a walking bridge Bürser canyon at the entrance of the Brandner valley, a unique glacial landscape design ( Bürser conglomerate, moraines, boulders ) are visited. The Mountain Zone has a largely intact nature and an unusual habitat diversity ( eg Great biotopes Ochsenälpele nuns Alpe and Sarotlatal ).

Sports

The largest and most famous sports club in brush is the SK brush, one was established in 1971 and about 300 members scoring football club.
