Cariñena, Aragon

Carintilde is a Spanish municipality ( municipio ) in the province of Zaragoza of the Autonomous Community of Aragon. It is the capital of the comarca of Campo de Carintilde and thus the center of a world-famous wine -growing region.

Carintilde is considered the oldest wine-growing region of Spain and has an excellent reputation. 1932, the zone was recorded and in 1960 was awarded the title of Denomination of Origin. Here was also the most important grape variety of northern Spain, the Carintilde ( in Rioja and Navarra Mazuelo ), although in the growing area Carintilde unlike Garnacha and Tempranillo plays only a subordinate role.
