Jacob Charles " Charley " Brock ( born March 15, 1916 in Columbus, Nebraska, USA, † May 25, 1987 in Green Bay, Wisconsin) was an American Football and coach in the National Football League ( NFL).

Playing career

College career

Brock attended in his hometown of 1932-1935 high school. There he played alongside American football basketball and track and field operation. In the discus throw Brock was state champion in 1933, he was appointed to the basketball selection team from Nebraska. From 1936 to 1939 Brock graduated from the University of Nebraska, where he also played American football. 1937 Charley Brock was selected to the All- American and represented his college two years later in college all - star game and in the East - West Shrine Game.

Professional career

Charley Brock in 1939 was drafted by the Green Bay Packers in the second round to 24th place. The Packers were trained by Curly Lambeau and had numerous All-Pro players like Arnie Herber, Don Hutson and Cecil Isbell in their ranks. In the first year Brock won with his team the NFL championship. In the final, the New York Giants could be hit with 27:0. 1941 failed the Packers in the final game to the Chicago Bears with 33:14. In 1944, Brock was able to win with his Packers the second championship. 1947 Brock finished his playing career.

Coaching career

Brock in 1948 assistant coach at his old college and returned after a year as an assistant to Lambeau back to the Packers. After his coaching career, he was still employed by the Packers, he was ultimately responsible for youth work of the association. Brock died in Green Bay and is buried there in the Fort Howard Memorial Park.

Honors

Charley Brock was five times elected to the All- Pro. He played in three Pro Bowls, the final game of the best players of the season. Brock is a member of the NFL 1940s All- Decade Team, the Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame, in the Nebraska Football Hall of Fame and in the Nebraska High School Hall of Fame.
