Chenevrey-et-Morogne

Chenevrey -et- Morogne is a commune in Haute -Saône in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Chenevrey -et- Morogne situated at an altitude of 205 m above sea level, 3 km west of Marnay, approximately 22 km west-northwest of the city of Besançon ( straight line ). The village extends to the south of the department, in a depression on the northern edge of the valley of Ognon, on the southwestern edge of the Monts de Gy.

The area of ​​8.86 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the lower Ognon Valley. The southern boundary runs mostly along the Ognon. This flows here with numerous turns west through a flat area, which has a width of about two kilometers and average is at 200 m. From the river, the municipality's area extends northward up through the valley and the adjacent, gently inclined slopes, which form the south-western foothills of the Monts de Gy. These hills are composed of Tertiary sediments. During the flood plain and the talnahen slopes are used predominantly agricultural, the ridge of the Bois du Mont is passed with forest. Here the highest elevation of Chenevrey -et- Morogne is achieved with 290 m. The western boundary forms the little valley of Bief de Lancey, a short side Bach Ognon.

The double municipality consists of the village Chenevrey (205 m) at the northern edge of the valley and the hamlet Morogne (199 m) at the Bief de Lancey shortly before its confluence with the Ognon. Neighboring communities of Chenevrey -et- Morogne Cult are in the north, Marnay in the east, Burgille, Courchapon and Jallerange in the south and Sornay and Bay in the west.

History

Is first mentioned Chenevrey in the year 1102. During the Middle Ages the village belonged to the Free County of Burgundy and in the territory of the Bailliage d' amont. Since the 13th century it formed a parish that was the monastery of Sainte -Madeleine, Besancon dependent. The local government had held the Lords of Marnay. Together with the Franche -Comté Chenevrey came with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 definitively to France. In 1808, the hamlet was Morogne (1806: 74 inhabitants), which formed a separate municipality previously fused with Chenevrey. 1823 Morogne regained its independence, but was a few years later merged with final Chenevrey. Since 2002 Chenevrey -et- Morogne is a member of the 15 localities municipal association Communauté de communes de la Vallée de l' Ognon.

Attractions

The church of Saint -Ferréol -et- Ferjeux was built in Gothic style and extensively restored in the 18th and in the 19th century. It houses a rich interior, including an altar from the 17th century, furniture from the 18th and 19th century, relics of silver ( 18th century), a gold-plated chalice from 1741 and several grave slabs. From the 18th century Oratory dates. In the old town, many houses from the 17th century are preserved, showing the characteristic style of the Haute -Saône.

Population

With 274 inhabitants ( 1 January 2011) Chenevrey -et- Morogne one of the small towns in the Haute- Saône. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century (1891 406 persons were still counted ), a slight population growth was recorded since the mid-1970s again.

Economy and infrastructure

Chenevrey -et- Morogne was until well into the 20th century a predominantly by agriculture (crops, orchards and livestock ) and forestry embossed village. Today, there are some establishments of local small businesses. In recent decades the village has been transformed into a residential community. Many workers are therefore commuters who do their work in the larger towns in the area and agglomeration in Besançon.

The village is situated away from the larger passage axes on a secondary road, leading from Marnay by Pesmes. The nearest links to the A36 motorway is located at a distance of about 20 km. Another road connection with Cult.
