Jallerange

Jallerange is a commune in the French department Doubs in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Jallerange situated at an altitude of 220 m above sea level, about 24 km west of the city of Besançon (air line). The village is located on the southern edge of the wide valley of Ognon, on the northern edge of the hills between the valleys of Ognon and Doubs and at the northern foot of the height of the Bois de Ruppe.

The area of ​​5.41 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the lower Ognontals. Along the Ognon flowing here with numerous meanders through about three kilometers wide valley to the west, extending the northern boundary. From the river Ognon, the municipality's area extends southward over the location to an average of 200 m alluvial plain, which mainly consisted of arable and meadow land and is occupied in the east of the forest area of the Bois d' Aval. Further south, the land rises gradually to the peaks of Moutherot and Bois de Ruppe in the gently undulating countryside between Ognon and Doubs. These hills form the north-eastern foothills of the Massif de la Serre. At 320 m the highest elevation of Jallerange is achieved in the Bois de Ruppe.

Neighboring communities of Jallerange are Sornay and Chenevrey -et- Morogne in the north, Courchapon in the east, Le Moutherot and Étrabonne in the south and Pagney in the West.

History

The territory of Jallerange was settled very early. On the communal land was a Roman country house. Together with the Franche -Comté Jallerange came with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 definitively to France. In 1972, the municipality's area enlarged by the incorporation of Courchapon and Le Moutherot. However, both places were in 1981 respectively 1985 their independence back. Today Jallerange is a member of the comprehensive 13 municipalities municipal association Communauté de communes des Rives de l' Ognon.

Attractions

The village church of Jallerange was built in the 18th century. It is furnished with the remarkable wooden statue of Notre- Dame-des- Ermites ( also 18th century ) is one. The castle, which is surrounded by a French garden, was built in 1751.

Population

With 185 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) Jallerange one of the small communities of the department of Doubs. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century (1891 306 people were still counted ), only since the early 1990s, a slight population growth was recorded again.

Economy and infrastructure

Jallerange was until well into the 20th century a predominantly by agriculture (crops, orchards and livestock ) and forestry embossed village. Many workers are commuters who do their work in the larger towns in the area and agglomeration in Besançon.

The village is situated away from the larger passage axes on a secondary road that leads from Marnay by Thervay. The nearest links to the A36 motorway is located at a distance of about 12 km. Further road links exist with Sornay, Le Moutherot and Lantenne - Vertière.
