Franey

Franey is a commune in the French department Doubs in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Franey is located at an altitude of 212 m above sea level, about 16 km west of the city of Besançon (air line). The village is located in the gently undulating countryside between the rivers of Doubs in the south and Ognon in the north, on the western edge of the wide valley of the Ruisseau de Recologne.

The area of ​​3.38 km ² municipal area includes a section south of the Ognon. The area is slightly undulating and mainly consisted of arable and meadow land, but there are also some smaller forest areas. From south to north it is from the partially more than a kilometer wide Talung the Ruisseau de Recologne (also called Ruisseau du Breuil ) crosses, which provides for drainage to Ognon. History

Since the early 15th century Franey was under the rule of the Abbey of Saint -Paul of Besançon, which was built here a seat of power. Population

With 277 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) Franey one of the small communities of the department of Doubs.
