Corcondray

Corcondray is a commune in the French department Doubs in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Corcondray situated at an altitude of 225 m above sea level, about 15 km west of the city of Besançon (air line). The village is located in the gently undulating countryside between the rivers of Doubs in the south and Ognon in the north, in the valley of the Ruisseau de Corcondray near its confluence with the Ruisseau de pommeau.

The area of ​​5.38 km ² municipal area includes a section south of the Ognon. The area is slightly undulating and mainly consisted of arable and meadow land, and there are also some forest areas. From east to west it is traversed by the Talung the Ruisseau de Corcondray who receives inflow from various tributaries and the Ruisseau de Recologne ensures the drainage on the Ruisseau de pommeau and Ognon. The valleys are flanked by hills, which usually protrudes above the flood plain of less than 50 meters. With 298 m is reached on the watershed between Ognon and Doubs in the far south is the highest elevation of Corcondray.

At the hamlet of L' Etang Corcondray part (235 m) south of the village in a hollow. Neighboring communities of Corcondray are Lavernay in the north, Villers- Buzon in the east, Pouilley -Français and Saint -Vit in the south and Ferrieres -les -Bois and Corcelles- Ferrieres in the West.

History

Since the 13th century Corcondray formed its own little rule under the suzerainty of the Dukes of Burgundy. The castle was built in 1477 by French troops put on fire. Together with the Franche -Comté Corcondray came with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 definitively to France. Since 2001 Corcondray is a member of the Association of Municipalities Communauté de communes du Val Saint- Vitois.

Attractions

The church of Saint -Pierre -et -Paul was built in the 17th century. From a former manor house from the 13th century about 20 meters high and mighty square tower remains. The old town is characterized by various houses from the 17th to the 19th century in the characteristic style of the Franche -Comté.

Population

With 130 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) Corcondray is one of the smallest municipalities of the department of Doubs. Throughout the 20th century, the population moved always in the range between 90 and 130 people.

Economy and infrastructure

Corcondray was until well into the 20th century a predominantly by agriculture (crops, orchards and livestock ) embossed village. In addition, there are today some of the local small business enterprises. Meanwhile, the village has also changed into a residential community. Many workers are commuters who engage in the agglomeration Besançon their work.

The village is situated away from the larger passage axes on a secondary road, leading from Franois after Lantenne - Vertière. The nearest links to the A36 motorway is located at a distance of about 9 km. Further road links exist with Lavernay and Ferrieres -les -Bois.
