Audeux

Audeux is a commune in the French department Doubs in the Franche -Comté. It is the capital of the canton in the Arrondissement Audeux Besançon.

Geography

Audeux situated at an altitude of 240 m above sea level, about 12 km west of the city of Besançon (air line). The village is located in the gently undulating countryside between the rivers of Doubs in the south and in the north Ognon slightly increased on the western edge of the valley of the Ruisseau de Noironte.

The area of ​​1.75 km ² municipal area includes a section south of the Ognon. The eastern boundary runs along the Ruisseau de Noironte, here the northward flowing through an approximately one kilometer- wide valley and provides drainage to Ognon. From the river, the municipality's area extends westward into the trough of Audeux and up on the adjacent hills. The area is mainly consisted of arable and meadow land; there are only small areas of forest. With 285 m is reached on the plateau west of the village is the highest elevation of Audeux.

Neighboring communities of Audeux are Noironte in the north, Champagney in the east, Mazerolles -le- Salin in the south and in the west Placey.

History

Is first mentioned Audeux in the 12th century. The place name is probably derived from the Latin word aquaeductus ( aqueduct in the importance of Bach). In the Middle Ages, the village formed its own rule. Together with the Franche -Comté Audeux came with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 definitively to France. Today Audeux is a member of the Association of Municipalities Communauté d' Agglomà du Grand Besançon.

Attractions

The church Saint -Martin was built in the 18th century in the form of a cross and has a rich interior. Also from the 18th century comes the castle, which stands on the site of the medieval manor house. The Lavoir ( well, wash and livestock watering ) was built in 1844.

Population

With 435 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) Audeux one of the small communities of the department of Doubs. Once the population has consistently had in the first half of the 20th century in the area of ​​95-130 people, a strong population growth has been recorded since the early 1960s. Especially during the 1970s doubled the number of inhabitants.

Economy and infrastructure
