Le Moutherot

Le Moutherot is a commune in the French department Doubs in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Le Moutherot situated at an altitude of 323 m above sea level, about 22 km west of the city of Besançon (air line). The village stretches a scenic location on a hilltop that overlooks the surrounding areas up to 100 m, in the gently undulating countryside between the rivers of Doubs in the south and in the north Ognon.

The area of ​​1.30 km ² municipal area includes a section south of the Ognon. The main part of the territory occupied by the tip of Le Moutherot, on the 324 meters, the highest elevation of the site is achieved. This hill is one of the north-eastern foothills of the Massif de la Serre dar. At the top there is outside the settlement area of arable and meadow land, while the slopes are mostly covered with forest. In the north and east, the municipality area extends to the edge of the valley of Ognon.

Neighboring communities of Le Moutherot are Jallerange and Courchapon in the north and in the south Étrabonne.

History

Together with the Franche- Comté reached Le Moutherot with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 definitively to France. In 1972 the village was incorporated along with Courchapon after Jallerange, but Le Moutherot got its independence back in 1985. Today Le Moutherot is a member of the comprehensive 13 municipalities municipal association Communauté de communes des Rives de l' Ognon.

Attractions

The nave, cruciform church of Le Moutherot was rebuilt in 1754 by Benedictine monks of Mont Roland.

Population

With 129 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) Le Moutherot is one of the smallest municipalities of the department of Doubs. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century (1906 82 people were still counted ), was again recorded a strong population growth since the mid-1970s thanks to the attractive location. Since then, the population has grown almost fivefold.

Economy and infrastructure

Le Moutherot was until well into the 20th century a predominantly by agriculture ( farming, viticulture and animal husbandry ) embossed village. Even today, the inhabitants live on the merits of the activity in the first sector. Outside of the primary sector, there are few jobs in the village. Some employed persons are also commuters who do their work in the surrounding larger towns and in the agglomeration Besançon.

The village is located far away from the larger passage axes and can be reached by Jallerange or Étrabonne. The nearest links to the A36 motorway is located at a distance of about 13 km.
