Mazerolles -le- Salin is a commune in the French department Doubs in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Mazerolles -le- Salin is located at an altitude of 250 m above sea level, about 12 km west of the city of Besançon (air line). The village is located on a hill in the gently undulating countryside between the rivers of Doubs in the south and Ognon in the north, west of the valley of the Ruisseau de Noironte.

The area of ​​4.20 km ² municipal area includes a section south of the Ognon. History

Is first mentioned Mazerolles in 1452. The place name is probably derived from the Latin word maceriola, a diminutive form of maceria ( kneaded clay wall). In the Middle Ages the village belonged to the rule Audeux. Together with the Franche -Comté came Mazerolles with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 definitively to France. In 1791, almost the entire village was destroyed by a major fire. To avoid confusion with other communities of the same name, Mazerolles in 1919 officially renamed Mazerolles -le- Salin. Today Mazerolles -le- Salin is a member of the Association of Municipalities Communauté d' Agglomà du Grand Besançon.

Population

With 207 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) Mazerolles -le- Salin is one of the small communities of the department of Doubs.
