Chlumy

Chlumy ( German Chlum ) is a municipality with 102 inhabitants in the Czech Republic. It is located seven kilometers south-east of Nepomuk and belongs to Okres Plzeň -jih. The land area is 370 hectares.

Geography

Chlumy is located 506 m above sea level. M. hillside of a small side valley of the creek right Nekvasovský. To the northwest rises the 601 -meter high Čihadlo, in the northeast of Tisovník located ( 627 m).

Neighboring towns are Bezděkovec and Zhůřec in the north, Kotoun in the northeast, Oselce in the east, in the southeast Stupovka, Kvášňovice in the south, the west and Nekvasovy Barankův Mlýn, Černý Mlýn, Pohankův Mlýn and Voděra in the northwest.

History

Chlumy was first mentioned in 1558 and belonged to the rule Grünberg. To the south, in the valley of the creek Nekvasovský, at the site of the present monolayer Stupovka, was previously located the village Neustupovice which lies desolate since 1536. In the Berni rula eight pawns and four gardeners are reported for Chlumy.

1920 lived 277 people in the village.

Attractions

  • Classicist chapel of the Virgin Mary in the village square, built in the first half of the 19th century
  • Chapel of St Margaret was built on marketin vrch (662 m) on the road to Oselce, 1691 by Jiří Vojtěch Janovský. After the desecration during the Josephine reforms it was built by the Boos - Waldeck family.
