Daewoo Matiz

DAEWO Matiz (1998-2002)

The Daewoo Matiz is a car microcar of the South Korean car manufacturer Daewoo Motors. After the end of 2004, General Motors all Daewoo vehicles designated as Chevrolet in Europe, the Matiz was renamed without changes in Chevrolet Matiz. Only the brand logos have been replaced.

For the launch in 1998 of 3.50 meters short car was the entry into the Daewoo model range. It was ranked the compact model Daewoo Lanos. 2002 the Matiz received a facelift. Currently, the Daewoo Matiz is only produced in Uzbekistan by the Uz - DaewooAvto.

Daewoo Matiz (2002-2004)

Chery QQ

Offered in China since 2003, the Chinese manufacturer Chery QQ Chery Automobile sees the Matiz also sold as Daewoo Spark in China confusingly similar.

General Motors ( GM) sued Chery in 2005 in Beijing of infringement and licensed copy models to the equivalent of 7.5 million € in damages. This was based on a performed at GM comparison of the Matiz or Spark with the QQ. It was found that many parts are identical and, as for example the doors would be replaced without changes. Also, the engines would have resembled those GMs at the "legal" models. Chery dismissed all allegations of himself, claiming instead to have 24 design patents on the QQ, which should have been developed a year. For GM was the dispute to the problem that the group worked with SAIC, who owned automobiles turn to the year 2004 still shares amounting to 20 % of Chery. GM later withdrew the lawsuit.
