Dampvalley -Saint- Pancras is a commune in Haute -Saône in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Dampvalley -Saint- Pancras is at an altitude of 242 m above sea level, 7 km northwest of Saint -Loup- sur- Semouse and about 32 km north of the town of Vesoul (air line). The village is located in the extreme north of the department, in the valley of the Dorgeon, at the edge of the plateau of La Voge.

The area of ​​4.65 km ² municipal area comprises a section in the gently undulating countryside on the outskirts of the Voge. From northwest to southeast, the area is crossed by the Talniederung of Dorgeon, which ensures the drainage of the Lanterne Saône. The valley is on average 240 m and has a width of around 500 meters. The Talniederung is flanked on both sides by a plateau, which is divided by the troughs of short Seitentälchen Dorgeon. To the southwest of the municipality floor extends over the height of La Levue up into the headwaters of the creek Chanois. Agricultural land use predominates here. North of the Dorgeon the plateau rises gently to the wooded heights of the Grand Bois. Here the highest elevation of Dampvalley -Saint- Pancras is achieved with 325 m. The eastern boundary forms in sections, the little valley of the Ruisseau du Pont Mirot.

In geological- tectonic regard is the southern part of the municipality of limestone of the Middle Triassic. To the north it includes a narrow zone with sandy- marly and calcareous sediments that were deposited during the Lias ( Lower Jurassic ). Further north and sandstone of the Lower Triassic is revealed.

Neighboring communities of Dampvalley -Saint- Pancras are Fontenoy- le -Château in the north, Cuve in the east, and Anjeux Girefontaine in the south and concrete Court-Saint - Pancras to the west.

History

Is first mentioned in the year Dampvalley 1177th In the Middle Ages the village belonged to the Free County of Burgundy and in the territory of the Bailliage d' amont. The local government has held the Priory Saint- Pancrace in Fontaine- lès- Luxeuil. However, there were also a secular rule, which was in the 17th and 18th century belonged to the noble family Courtaillon. Together with the Franche -Comté reached the place with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 definitively to France. Attractions

The church of Saint -Étienne was built in 1776 and restored in 1842. From the 18th century the seat of power of the Courtaillon comes. Additional attractions include a fountain and the cross of St. Stephan ( 18th century).

Population

With 50 inhabitants (1 January 2011 ) Dampvalley -Saint- Pancras is one of the smallest municipalities in the department of Haute- Saône. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century (1906 100 people were still counted ), a slight population growth was recorded since the early 1990s again.

Economy and infrastructure

Dampvalley -Saint- Pancras is still a predominantly by agriculture ( farming, viticulture and animal husbandry ) and forestry embossed village. Outside of the primary sector, there are few jobs in town. Some employed persons are therefore commuters who engage in the larger towns in the vicinity of their work.

The village is situated away from the larger passage axes, but is easily accessible from the main road D417 which leads from Luxeuil -les- Bains to Bourbonne -les -Bains. Further road links exist with concrete Court-Saint - Pancras and Cuve.
