Bassigney

Bassigney is a commune in Haute -Saône in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Bassigney situated at an altitude of 240 m above sea level, 8 km northeast of Faverney and about 22 km north of the town of Vesoul (air line). The village is located in the northern part of the department, a slight increase on the northern edge of the wide valley of the Lanterne.

The area of ​​6.18 km ² municipal area comprises a section in the rolling countryside of the north of the valley of the Lanterne. The southern boundary runs partly along the Lanterne, with several turns and natural banks it flows through Alluvialniederung southwest Saône. The valley is on average 220 ​​m and has a width of about 5 kilometers wide. It is used partly agricultural, partly it is passed with riparian forest.

From the river, the municipality's area extends north across the flood plain to the hills and adjacent to the extensive grove of Bois des Ardennes and Grand Bois on the southern slopes of Mont d' Olivette. History

Is first mentioned Bassigney in 1295th In the Middle Ages the village belonged to the Free County of Burgundy and in the territory of the Bailliage d' amont. The local government has held the monastery of Luxeuil. The 1464 mentioned parish was dependent on Faverney. Together with the Franche -Comté reached the place with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 definitively to France. Attractions

With 128 inhabitants ( 1 January 2011) Bassigney is one of the small towns in the Haute- Saône. Throughout the 20th century, the population decreased continuously (1881 were still 285 persons counted ). Since 1990, the population remained at a nearly constant level.

Economy and infrastructure

Bassigney is still a predominantly by agriculture (crops, orchards and livestock ) and forestry embossed village. Outside of the primary sector, there are few jobs in town. Some employed persons are therefore commuters who engage in the larger towns in the vicinity of their work.

The village is situated away from the larger passage axes on a secondary road that leads from Bourguignon- lès- Conflans after Varigney. Another road connection with Dampierre- lès- Conflans.
