Anjeux

Anjeux is a commune in Haute -Saône in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Anjeux situated at an altitude of 242 m above sea level, 5 km west of Saint -Loup- sur- Semouse and about 30 km north of the town of Vesoul (air line). The village is located in the extreme north of the department, in the valley of the Ruisseau le Chanois west of the lowlands of Planey, at the edge of the plateau of the Voge.

The area of ​​8.71 km ² municipal area comprises a section in the gently undulating countryside on the outskirts of the Voge. The eastern part of the municipality is occupied by the Alluvialniederung of Planey, which springs from a karst spring and ensures the drainage to the south over the Semouse the Lanterne. The valley is on average 235 m and has a width of about one kilometer. In the field of Anjeux the Planey takes from the right tributaries Dorgeon and Ruisseau le Chanois on. The eastern boundary marks the height of the Bois du Fays forest, on the 303 m the highest elevation of Anjeux is achieved. It forms the watershed to the Valley of the Semouse.

To the northwest, the municipality's area extends into the valley of the Ruisseau le Chanois and on the adjacent plateaus ( Haut de Calenne and Charmot, around 260 m). Agricultural land use predominates here. The northern boundary runs in grove La Levue. In geological- tectonic terms, the main part of the municipality of limestone of the Middle Triassic. In some places, sandy- marly and calcareous come to light sediments that were deposited during the Lias ( Lower Jurassic ).

Neighboring communities of Anjeux are Dampvalley -Saint- Pancras and Cuve in the north, Bouligney and Saint-Loup- sur- Semouse to the east, La Pisseure, Plainemont and Jasney in the south and Girefontaine in the West.

History

Remains of a Roman road traffic evidence of an early inspection and settlement of the area. In the Middle Ages Anjeux belonged to the Free County of Burgundy and in the territory of the Bailliage d' amont. Anjeux formed the center of its own rule, which is occupied since 1271, and later was in part dependent upon the lords of Faucogney, partly from Luxeuil monastery. In the 16th century found here several times instead of witch trials. Together with the Franche -Comté reached the place with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 definitively to France. Today Anjeux is a member of the 20 localities comprehensive community association Communauté de communes des Belles Sources.

Attractions

The village church of Anjeux was built in the 15th and 16th century in the Gothic Flamboyant style and is classified as a monument historique. The Lavoir, which once served as a laundry and watering cattle, dates from the 19th century. From the former seat of power on the corridor La Sarrasinière ruins remain. Among the natural attractions of the Chasm you Planey counts ( karst spring of Vauclusetyps ).

Population

With 157 inhabitants ( 1 January 2011) Anjeux one of the small towns in the Haute- Saône. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century (1886 417 persons were still counted ), only small fluctuations were recorded since the early 1960s.

Economy and infrastructure

Anjeux was until well into the 20th century a predominantly by agriculture (crops, orchards and livestock ) and forestry embossed village. The foundry at Planey closed its doors in the early 20th century. Today, there are some establishments of local small businesses, including a cheese factory. In recent decades the village has been transformed into a residential community. Many workers are therefore commuters who engage in the larger towns in the vicinity of their work.

The village is situated away from the larger passage axes on a secondary road that leads from Cuve after Conflans -sur- Lanterne. Further road links exist with Jasney, Bouligney and Ainvelle.
