Jasney

Jasney is a commune in Haute -Saône in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Jasney situated at an altitude of 248 m above sea level, 7 km west of Saint -Loup- sur- Semouse and about 28 km north of the town of Vesoul (air line). The village is located in the northern part of the department, in the valley of the Ruisseau des Auvets, at the edge of the plateau of the Voge.

The area of ​​13.02 km ² municipal area comprises a section in the gently undulating countryside on the outskirts of the Voge. The central part of the area occupied by the wide valley of the Ruisseau des Auvets, which provides for drainage southeast to Planey. The Alluvialniederung is on average 240 m and has a maximum width of one kilometer. Agricultural land use predominates here.

Flanked the valley of the Ruisseau des Auvets on both sides of a plateau that is broken down by various wells. In the east the municipality area extends into the Le Grove Fenez, in the northeast on the amount of Champs Montreal Antes (285 m ) and in the north to the hill of La Vangille, on the 321 m, the highest elevation of Jasney is achieved. In the West, the forest area of the Grand Bois is expanding, causing the valley of the Ruisseau de Cou marks the western and southern border. With a narrow corner of the communal land extends to the southeast to in the broad flood plain of the Planey. In geological- tectonic regard is the northern part of the municipality of limestone of the Middle Triassic. To the south it includes a zone with sandy- marly and calcareous sediments that were deposited during the Lias ( Lower Jurassic ).

Neighboring communities of Jasney are Girefontaine in the north, Anjeux in the east, Plainemont and Dampierre- lès- Conflans in the south and Melincourt in the West.

History

The discovery of Roman coins testifies to an early inspection and settlement of the area. The origin of the settlement probably formed a Benedictine priory. In the Middle Ages Jasney belonged to the Free County of Burgundy and in the territory of the Bailliage d' amont. The existence of the noble family Jasney is detected since 1153. In 1569 the village was looted and burned by the soldiers of the Duke Wolfgang of Pfalz- Zweibrücken. Together with the Franche -Comté reached the place with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 definitively to France. Today Jasney is a member of the 20 localities comprehensive community association Communauté de communes des Belles Sources.

Attractions

The village church Saint -Martin was rebuilt in 1777. For notable appointments include the richly carved wooden altar, paneling and furniture from the 18th century. Near town is the church a house with turrets ( 15-16. Century). The place has two places of residence: the Château d' en Haut and the Château d' en Bas, which was built in 1760 and now houses the Mairie ( Town Hall) and the school. The covered Lavoir, which once served as a laundry and watering cattle, was built around 1840.

Population

With 252 inhabitants ( 1 January 2011) Jasney one of the small towns in the Haute- Saône. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century (1881 570 persons were still counted ), only small fluctuations were recorded since the early 1960s.

Economy and infrastructure

Jasney was until well into the 20th century a predominantly by agriculture (crops, orchards and livestock ) and forestry embossed village. The water power of the village Bach was formerly used for the operation of a mill. Today, there are some establishments of local small businesses, especially in the construction and agricultural machinery. In recent decades the village has been transformed into a residential community. Many workers are therefore commuters who engage in the larger towns in the vicinity of their work.

The village is situated away from the larger passage axes on a secondary road that leads from Vauvillers after Conflans -sur- Lanterne. Further road links exist with Girefontaine, Anjeux and Dampierre- lès- Conflans.
