Devin Brown

Devin Brown ( born December 30, 1978 in Salt Lake City, Utah ) is an American professional basketball player. The 1.96 meter tall Brown plays primarily on the position of the shooting guards, but can also be used as a small forward.

Playing career

High School

Brown grew up in San Antonio, Texas, where he played organized basketball at South San Antonio West Campus High School and was able to score the most points as a high school player in the history of the city.

College

Then Devin played four years at the University of Texas at San Antonio, where he was also the all-time leading scorer of the school was ( 1,922 points). On average, there he made 18.3 points, 7.2 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.75 steals in 32.0 minutes per game.

NBA

Devin Brown was not selected in the NBA Draft in 2002 by an NBA team. However, he was invited to the summer training camp of the San Antonio Spurs. Just before the season he was released, received in November for two weeks but once a contract.

After he was selected by the Fayetteville Patriots in the draft of the National Basketball Development League in second place, he played for 44 games for the Patriots and became the 2003 NBDL Most Valuable Player and to the NBDL "Rookie of the Year". On 9 September 2005, he got a contract with the Utah Jazz. After just one season, however, he was traded on July 12, 2006 by the Jazz with Keith McLeod and Andre Owens to the Golden State Warriors in exchange for Derek Fisher. Brown, however, was then immediately released by the Warriors.

On 22 December 2006 he received a contract with the New Orleans Hornets to fill the gaps created due to an injury of the team. He introduced himself as well into a team, that he ascended shortly thereafter in the starting lineup of the Hornets. A position he also filled after some of the previously injured Stars came back. The 2006/07 season was the best in his NBA career. He averaged 11.6 points and 4.3 rebounds in 58 games, of which he started 49.
