Dominik Landertinger

Landertinger ( born March 13, 1988 in Braunau am Inn) is an Austrian biathlete. His greatest successes so far are winning the gold medal in the mass start at the 2009 World Championships, the silver medal in the relay at the 2010 Olympics and silver in the sprint and bronze in the relay at the Olympic Winter Games 2014.

Life and career

Landertinger spent the first years of his life in Weng im Innkreis. He lives in Hochfilzen and completed an apprenticeship as a mechanical engineer. The coached by Reinhard Gösweiner athletes from HSV Hochfilzen Biathlon operates since 1998 and belongs since 2003 to the Austrian national team.

Landertinger was a successful youth and junior athletes. In 2004, he took in Haute Maurienne for the first time at World Youth championships and reached best result a ninth place in the individual. A year later he was on the same route seventh and fourth in the relay. Even better it was for the young Austrians in 2006 in Presque Isle, where he won bronze in singles and silver in the relay. By the end of the 2006/07 season Landertinger went to the Junior European Cup, where he won the 2006 Obertilliach in a Pursuit and other times ran to the podium. His last participation in World Youth Championships in 2007 in Martell, where he won silver in the sprint, fourth in the persecution and with the squadron won the gold medal. In 2007, he also launched at the European Junior Championships in Bansko, where she won gold in the sprint and pursuit, as well as silver in the relay.

Since the third stop of the 2007/08 season, Pokljuka, he takes in the Biathlon World Cup, and came in his first race, a single, immediately on the 18th Place. In the following sprint, he was twelfth. In the 2008 /09 season Landertinger won with the season, the World Cup races in Oberhof and was second in Hochfilzen. On 17 and 18 January 2009, he reached in Ruhpolding in second in the sprint and third in the pursuit in the individual disciplines his first podium. In Pyeongchang winning the mass start race ahead of compatriot Christoph Sumann at the Biathlon World Championships 2009. At the end of the World Cup Final in Khanty-Mansiysk 2009, he secured the special World Cup mass start ahead of Ole Einar Bjørndalen.

At the Olympic Games in Vancouver in 2010, he secured in the relay, together with Simon Eder, Daniel Mesotitsch and Christoph Sumann the silver medal behind Norway. At the Olympic Winter Games in Sochi in 2014 he won the silver medal behind Ole Einar Bjørndalen and as the final runners bronze team that ran in the same cast as in 2010 in the sprint.

2009 Landertinger was awarded the Golden Badge of Honour for Services to the Republic of Austria.
