Dominik Paris

Dominik " Domme " Paris ( born April 14, 1989 in Meran ) is an Italian alpine skier from Ultimo. The strengths of the South Tyrolean lie in the speed disciplines downhill and super - G and super combined.

Biography

2002 and 2004 Paris won the giant slalom at the Trofeo Topolino. He played his first FIS race in December 2004, in March 2005, he was Italian Junior Champion in the downhill. The first two bets in the European Cup he had with the departures in Reinwald in February 2007. He is a regular since January 2008 at the start and was able to celebrate his first victory in the Super -G of Sella Nevea on 12 February. In the same month he took part in the Junior World Championship 2008 in Formigal, reaching best result in fifth in the giant slalom.

Paris went on 19 December 2008 for the first time in the World Cup at the start, for now it still does not reach the points. He had great success at the Junior World Championships 2009 in Garmisch -Partenkirchen, where he took second place in the Super- G and finished third in the downhill and the combined score. In March 2009, he was Italian champion in the super -G.

On 4 December 2009 Paris got in his sixth World Cup races, the Super Combination of Beaver Creek, 26 as the first World Cup points. His best World Cup results in the season 2009/10 were 14 three courses, scored in the super combined in Wengen on January 15, 2010 ( when he scored the third fastest time in the downhill ), the classic combination of Kitzbuehel on January 24, 2010 and the Super G in Kvitfjell on March 7 of the same year. At the Olympic Winter Games 2010, he scored the second- fastest time in the downhill portion of the 13th place in the Super Combined.

After the 2010/11 season was his best World Cup result initially a 17th place, Paris went on January 29, 2011 in the departure of Chamonix surprising to second place. The next day he arrived with seventh in the super combined his second top- 10 finish in the World Cup. At the World Championships 2011 in Garmisch -Partenkirchen, he was ranked 20 in the downhill, in super-combined, he was, however. In the World Cup season 2011/12 he scored four top-10 results.

On December 29, 2012 Paris won his first World Cup race: Coinciding with Hannes Reichelt he won the downhill on the Pista Stelvio in Bormio. His second victory was followed four weeks later, on 26 January 2013 at Streif in Kitzbühel. At the World Championships 2013 in Schladming, he won the silver medal. Paris decided in Lake Louise, the first departure of the season 2013/14 for itself. When training for the downhill in Val Gardena he retired on December 18, 2013 a muscle tear in the left lower leg and then had to pause for a month, but still able to participate in the 2014 Winter Olympics counter first fears.
