Dominika Cibulková

Dominika Cibulková ( born May 6, 1989 in Bratislava) is a Slovak tennis player.

Career

Dominika began at the age of seven years with the tennis games. At 15, she went into the professional tour. In 2004 she played her first ITF tournament in Prague. On the WTA tour she could yet win three titles.

Your highest position in the WTA world rankings they achieved in individual after moving into the semi-finals of the French Open on 6 July 2009 with 12th place Other highlights were her final appearances at the Bausch & Lomb Championships in Amelia Iceland ( 6:7, 3: 6 vs. Maria Sharapova ) and the Rogers Cup in Montreal, Canada ( 2:6, 1:6 against Dinara Safina ). In January 2009 Cibulková won in Perth (Australia ) on the side of Dominik Hrbatý for Slovakia to the Hopman Cup. They also won in individual two tournaments on the ITF Women's Circuit, 2005 in Amarante (Portugal ) and 2006 in their hometown of Bratislava.

2010/2011

Cibulková reached 2010 in Paris and Wimbledon respectively the third round and pulled at the U.S. Open quarter-finals. In 2011 she threw at Wimbledon, the world number one Caroline Wozniacki with a three-set victory in the tournament, was defeated in the quarterfinals but Sharapova Marija clearly with 1:6, 1:6. When hard court tournament in Stanford, she reached the semi-finals, but could not compete against Marion Bartoli injury. In Linz, they lost the final against Petra Kvitová 4:6, 1:6. At the Kremlin Cup in Moscow, she was finally able to celebrate her first WTA title; in the final, she defeated Kaia Kanepi there with 3:6, 7:61 and 7:5.

2012

At the Australian Open, she only came to round two. In February, she reached in Bratislava with the Slovak team the play- off round in the Fed Cup in order to participate in the World Group; she lost her singles match against Virginie Razzano, but won against Pauline Parmentier. At the clay court tournament in Barcelona, she reached the final, Sara Errani, however, had to deal with 2:6, 2:6 indicate clearly beaten. At the French Open she made a surprise as she the world number one Wiktoryja Azarenka 6-2, 7:64 transported there in the first knockout round of the tournament. In the quarterfinals, she was eliminated by the resurgent former finalist Samantha Stosur. At Wimbledon she had already failed in the first round. To kick off the U.S. hard court season, she succeeded in San Diego, the second title win on the tour with a final victory over Marion Bartoli ( 6:1, 7:5 ).

2013

Her third WTA title Cibulková secured again on hard court. At the tournament in Stanford, she defeated after beating Stefanie Voegele, Urszula Radwańska and Sorana Cîrstea Agnieszka Radwańska in the final also, the number 4 in the world.

2014: The Breakthrough

At the Australian Open Cibulková was after beating Francesca Schiavone, Stefanie Voegele, Carla Suárez, Maria Sharapova, Simona Halep and Agnieszka Radwańska in the first final of a Grand Slam tournament. She defeated Li Na with 6:73 and 0:6. Her fourth WTA title won Cibulková on Clay Court in Acapulco. At the Sony Open in Miami, she moved to a semi-finals. In the quarterfinals, she had initially repelled against Agnieszka Radwańska three match points and turned the match still successful. Thus, it is the first time in the top 10 in the WTA world rankings.
