Do not Cry (English for "Do not cry ") is a hard rock ballad of the U.S. band Guns N ' Roses. She appeared on two parts of the double release Use Your Illusion I & II in different versions and it was coupled out in September 1991 as a single. The song reached high chart positions in Europe and the U.S., including number 8 in the UK and number 10 in the U.S..

Background

From the song, which was released with different text on the two albums ( the version on Use Your Illusion I was the official single ), there is also a third version. It was recorded already during the recording of the album Appetite for Destruction in 1986 and appeared as another version on the single. For the versions on Use Your Illusion took Shannon Hoon, lead singer of Blind Melon and a friend of Axl Rose, the background vocals. He can also be seen in the music video.

The piece, together with the subsequent singles Estranged and November Rain a trilogy, as Rose once said. It was partly inspired by the short story Without You by Del James. The song is about a woman leaves her husband. In Making F @ $ # ing videos Rose said, the song act by a woman with whom Izzy Stradlin was a friend and the rose was also attractive, but told him that she did not want him.
