Dornogovi Province
The Dorno Gobi Aimag (Mongolian Дорноговь Аймаг, Eastern Gobi ) is an aimag ( province ) of Mongolia, located in the southeast of the country. The province consists mostly of arid highlands and is on average about 1,000 m above sea level. NN. Prolonged droughts and severe sandstorms hinder human habitation. Of the approximately 54,000 inhabitants, of whom about one-third in the provincial capital Sainschand. In the most sparsely populated Sum ( circle) Mandach live on 12,700 square kilometers, only 1,648 people. The area is rich in mineral resources, especially coal and fluorspar, and possibly oil.
