Doștat

Dostat ( Thor German city, Hungarian Hosszútelke ) is a town in Alba county in Transylvania, Romania.

The place is also known by the German names Langenthal or Langendorf and the Romanian Telecu or Telcu.

Location

The municipality is located in Dostat Zekesch Highlands ( Podişul Secaşelor ) in southwestern Transylvania. In a hilly landscape on the county road (Drum Judetean ) DJ 141D, the village is located 21 km east of Sebes and 23 km ( air line ) southeast from the county capital Alba Iulia away.

History

On the territory of the municipality, between Dostat and Spring - known locally as La Zidu - on an area of ​​300 x 300 meters, was during archaeological excavations of a Roman settlement of civil or military significance found. Other finds are also associated with the Roman culture.

The place was first mentioned in 1320 under the name Huzyuteluk and 1850 Dostatt.

The residents now live mainly from agriculture, the cattle and fish farming.

While almost exclusively located in the village itself and in eingemeindeten village Dealu Doştatului since the 1850 Census Romanians ( Bußd ) were in the village of Boz and 1966 about one third to one half of the inhabitants of the Transylvanian Saxons. After 1989 - since the mass emigration of the Saxons - also live in Boz almost all Romanians and Roma (approx. 0.8%).
