Duesenberg

The Duesenberg mark was used as early as 1986 by Dieter Gölsdorf for futuristic designs of heavy metal guitars. From 1991, the brand was first used in the context of his own company, the Göldo Music GmbH, Hannover. In 1995 Gölsdorf developed a new guitar with the name Star Player. It was a semi-acoustic electric guitar with a flat spruce top, two pickups, a maple neck and numerous applications in the Art Deco style. This guitar was already a preform of Duesenberg later most successful electric guitar, the Star Player TV. With its classic decorative elements and the often unconventional coloring, Duesenberg instruments relate to the architecture of the last guitar 50s and 60s.

In 2000, sales began to develop above average. This is due among other things to the strong media presence of the Japanese Popgröße Sheena Ringo, which always occurred with a surf green Starplayer. Opened in 2004 Duesenberg, a sales office in the United States. The order situation continued to develop positively, allowing the firm in 2011 moved to a larger building on the outskirts of Hanover due to increasing space requirements. The number of international artists playing live Duesenberg, has increased steadily in recent years, so there are to buy some signature models.

Today Duesenberg is a small but world -renowned brand for high-quality solid-body, hollow-body and Vollresonanz-E-Gitarren/Archtops and special models with exceptional look and sound.

Name

The spelling of the name Duesenberg is identical to the automotive brand in the Frederick and August Duesenberg brothers, who in turn was by design and performance the epitome of luxury car in the U.S. in the 1920s.

And even then the cars, the guitars are now often simply called Doozy. The exclamation "it was a doozy! " Or "what a doozy! " Has been the emergence of the Duesenberg Automobile in American slang to an expression of enthusiasm and extravagance. Just as with automobiles, the spelling Duesy found now also in the guitar scene due to the phonetic similarity again.

Legend has it that Ron Wood, guitarist with the Rolling Stones, after he had taken his own signature model Duesenberg out of a suitcase, " Oh what a doozy! " Supposed to have said. This could also be a reason that the instruments are nowadays often known under this name.

Design

" The unmistakable face of Duesenberg guitars manifested in the Art Deco style of headstock, pickguard and hardware, while most body designs are based on old jazz guitar shapes as from the 40s in Germany and the USA in particular by German were produced emigrants. "

The most important design element and also brand of instruments is the three-stage of shapes and symmetries. It is found in almost every part of the guitar - from the top plate, the pickup frame, the pickguard to the Potiknöpfen, the cable jack and even the pickup selector switch - again. Also, the Duesenberg D contains these three steps and in the lower bar.

Indeed, many models of Duesenberg guitars are popular with jazz guitarist traditional semi-acoustic structures. But the guitars with solid body, the so-called Solidbodies follow traditional design. The Art Deco style, which applications and noble and unusual materials uses is combined with Duesenberg with the forms of traditional guitars. Here, find the typical for this direction features such as parallel bands, graded symmetries and prolonged swings application.

The color scheme follows a classic example. In addition to the standard black and white color palette currently includes (2012 ), among others, a translucent orange (Trans - Orange ), a classic blue - green ( Surf Green ), a pastel red ( Fiesta Red ) and provided with glitter particles color finishes ( Blue, Silver and Black Sparkle ) and decorated with mother-of- pearl mosaic finishes (Ice, Blue and Emerald Green Pearl). Traditional finishes such as gold -top, two-tone sunburst, Fire Burst and Vintage Blonde are also available.

This is to emphasize the style of guitars, since the components of classical instruments originally nickel plated, and were not like chrome today claims to be. Sit -house Z- tuner to the head plates. These are encapsulated mechanics, in which the string is fed and clipped by the mechanics axis downwards. Thus, the quieting of sharp string ends of the mechanisms is prevented.

The hardware is continuously improved by Duesenberg and flows after completion will be a first in the production of the instruments. So the current version of the tremolo has already been optimized several times in detail and in overall shape, for example.

Pickup

Exclusively in-house developments are built on the instruments also. All pickups feature an open Neusilberkappe.

Currently ( 2012) the company has five pickups in the program which are offered in the neck and bridge version. With the Grand Vintage, the Crunchbucker and the D -Tron humbuckers area is generally covered, the Grand Vintage is a personal interpretation of a classic PAF-style humbuckers, and is installed in most Duesenberg guitars on the web. The Little Toaster Duesenberg has developed a pickup, to commemorate the output to a single coil, but is technically a humbucker. The Domino P90 is a P90 pickup in humbucker format and is installed in many Duesenberg guitars neck.

PLEK

Since January 2009, every instrument in the computer-controlled PLEK Bundabrichtungsmaschine is processed. With an accuracy of 1/100 mm, the individual frets are measured and then dressed by a CNC milling machine. This is to ensure optimum adjustability and playability as well as prevent fret buzz and rattle.
