Écurcey

Écurcey is a commune in the French department Doubs in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Écurcey is located on 571 m, about 12 km south of the town of Montbéliard (air line). The village is located in the northern Jura, on the plateau of the Jura to the north and east of the Lomont Doubstals.

The area of ​​7.43 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the northern French Jura. The main part of the territory occupied by the slightly corrugated board Jura plateau consisting of Sequan and Kimmeridgekalken, which is on average 570 m. With 597 m is achieved at the Haut de Jeanney west of the village is the highest elevation of Écurcey. The plateau is mainly consisted of arable and meadow land, but also shows some forest areas. There are no surface watercourses, because the rainwater seeps into the karst underground.

The plateau is divided by the furrows of different erosion valleys. In the north the wooded cuts the Combe de Vaumurger and the Combe de la Noye form the boundary. South of the village takes a tributary of the Roide its beginning. To the southwest, the municipality's area extends over the plateaus of Les Perches ( 576 m) and Sur les rank down in the valley of the Roide, at the outskirts of Pont -de- Roide and on the eastern side of the valley of the Doubs. The steep slopes are mostly forested and crisscrossed in different places of Kalkfelsbändern.

Neighboring communities of Écurcey are Mandeure and Bondeval in the north, Roches- lès- Blamont in the east, Autechaux -Roide in the south and Pont -de- Roide and Bourguignon in the West.

History

Since the Middle Ages Écurcey belonged to the rule Blamont. After the village had come in 1506 under the suzerainty of the Counts of Montbéliard, the Reformation was introduced. As part of the rule Blamont, which formed one of the four gentlemen of the Principality of Montbéliard and was annexed in 1699 by France, Écurcey 1748 came contractually finally to France. Today, the village belongs to the municipality of Communauté de communes Association des Balcons du Lomont.

Population

With 278 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) Écurcey one of the small communities of the department of Doubs. After the population was subjected in the first half of the 20th century, various fluctuations in the range 125-210 people, a significant population increase has been recorded since the early 1970s.

Economy and infrastructure

Écurcey was until well into the 20th century a predominantly by agriculture (crops, orchards and livestock ) and forestry embossed village. Many workers are therefore commuters who do their work in the agglomeration Montbéliard.

The village is located off the major thoroughfares on a secondary road that leads from Mandeure after Autechaux -Roide. The nearest links to the A36 motorway is located at a distance of about 11 km. Another road connection with Roches- lès- Blamont.
