The Eden Aréna is a football stadium in the Czech capital Prague. Until 31 March 2009, was named Stadion Eden. From 2009 to July 2012 was the venue through a sponsorship deal Synot Tip Arena.

History

Old Stadium

Slavia Prague, which in Letna area traditionally played close to his biggest rivals Sparta Prague had, at the behest of the Communist rulers left their own stadium in 1948 and moved to the district Vršovice, where the so-called Eden was a new stadium. The wooden grandstand was removed from the Letna and rebuilt in Eden.

First remodeling plans already existed in 1984, but for years nothing happened. Four years later, it looked as if the start tag, but after the demolition of the east stand it no longer went ahead. After the collapse of communism, further work was delayed. It was unclear whom belonged the land under the stadium. In 1994 there were plans to re- reconstruction of the stadium, there was talk of a complete canopy, a capacity of 32,000 spectators, a soil heating, a hotel and a shopping center. None of this was realized. Another three years later, an architectural competition was held, but in which no winner was named.

In October 1997, the British company ENIC Following rose as the main shareholder in Slavia Prague, and promised a stadium until the year 2000. At the 1999/2000 season left Slavia Prague the dilapidated Eden and wore its home games from now on in Evžena Rošického Stadium. General Vladimír Leška promised to return in 2003, a new building in Eden. In December 2003, he presented a study of the new stadium and set an exact date for the opening game of fixed, namely the October 19, 2005 at 18:30 clock. At the same time a floodlight mast was symbolically demolished in Eden.

Although the old stadium groundbreaking ceremony in October 2005, was demolished, but the funding for a new building only came in the mid 2006. For the new Eden was, after 19 October 2006.

New stadium

The stadium in Vršovice neighborhood was built from October 2006 to April 2008. It stands on the site of the old Eden stadium, which was demolished between 2003 and 2004. Already in the 1990s a new building on the same site was planned, but all legal issues relating to the land could be settled only in 2003. The new building was funded primarily by a specially created company, the E Side Property Limited, through the issuance of promissory notes.

The stadium has 21,000 covered seats and 40 VIP boxes that offer 900 seats.

The stadium May 7, 2008 opened with a game against Slavia Prague, the English club Oxford University AFC. This was 1899, the first British opponent Slavia, then subject to the Red and Whites the FA Cup winners of 1874 with 0:3. In a game two times 35 minutes Slavia won against Oxford in front of 14,618 spectators 5-0.

The stadium was in the league match against FK Jablonec 97 on 17 May 2008 for the first time ausverkauft.Slavia took a 2-2 Czech Championship.

From 1 April 2009 to 20 July 2012, the stadium was known as the Synot Tip Arena. The naming rights secured for several years the bookmakers Synot Tip for around ten million crowns per year.

The stadium of Slavia Prague in 2013 was the venue of the match for the UEFA Super Cup after the Stade Louis II was long in Monaco years permanent home. The UEFA Super Cup was first played at the Eden Arena on August 30, 2013 between FC Bayern Munich and Chelsea.
