Emblem of the Estonian Soviet Socialist Republic

The coat of arms of the Estonian SSR was used in the period of existence of the Estonian SSR, a constituent republic of the Soviet Union.

History

It was officially launched on October 1, 1940, introduced shortly after the occupation of Estonia by the Red Army and the incorporation into the Soviet Union.

The coat of arms was Aug. 7, 1990, one year before regaining of Estonian independence, was abolished and replaced by the current coat of arms of the Republic of Estonia.

Description

The coat of arms has a round shape. In the upper part of a five-pointed, yellow edged red star is depicted, which is to represent the membership of the communism and the hand of the liberated people of the classless society.

At the bottom of an intertwined band is seen in the in the middle in Estonian Eesti NSV ( Eesti Nõukogude Sotsialistlik Vabariik, " Estonian Soviet Socialist Republic ") stands. It is on the left and right in Estonian or Russian language the final sentence from the Communist Manifesto: " Workers of all countries, unite!" ( Koigi maade proletaarlased, ühinege - Пролетарии всех стран, соединяйтесь! ).

Links wheat wrap around poles in the middle of the emblem. Right wraps around a green shrub of a conifer in the middle. In the middle floats in gold hammer and sickle, which are symbolic of the communist state policy. Under this symbol you can see a golden rising sun shining.
