The Emirates Stadium is the football stadium of the English first division club FC Arsenal.

The stadium was built in Ashburton Grove, North London ( Holloway ) and was opened in July 2006. It can accommodate about 60,000 spectators and is thus to Old Trafford for Manchester United is the second largest stadium in the FA Premier League. After the Wembley Stadium, Twickenham Stadium and the Olympic Stadium London, it is the fourth-largest sports stadium of London.

History of the stadium

The construction of this building was supported by about 160 million euros of the Arab airline Emirates, which the rivals Chelsea reached earlier financially under the arms. Many call the new stadium also Ashburton Grove, after the place where it stands. This discrepancy between the official and the unofficial name was occasionally mentioned already with the name of the previous stadium of FC Arsenal, which was often referred to as Highbury, although it is actually called Arsenal Stadium.
