Eric Pickles

Eric Jack Pickles ( born April 20, 1952 in Keighley, West Yorkshire, England ) is a British politician of the Conservative Party and, since May 2010 Minister for Communities and Local Government ( Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government ).

Biography

After attending Greenhead Grammar School, he studied at Leeds Polytechnic and was then a consultant for employment practices. After he was from 1980 to 1981 Chairman of the National Youth Organization of the Conservative Party, he was 1982-1990 Member of the Regional Health Authority Yorkshire (Yorkshire Regional Health Authority ). In addition, he was active from 1982 to 1987 as co- chairman of the National Joint Committee Against Racism.

His political career began as a member of the City Council of the City of Bradford, which he chaired from 1988 until 1990. Subsequently, he was from 1990 to 1992 editor of the Conservative Newsline for the local government area.

In the elections in April 1992, he was elected as a candidate of the Conservative Party for the first time as a member of the lower house (House of Commons ) and represents in this since the constituency of Brentwood and Ongar.

Between 1994 and 1997 he was deputy party chairman Jeremy Hanley and Brian Mawhinney, before he spokesperson for Social Security of the conservative faction in the House of Commons was established in August 1998.
