History

The district is settlement since the Stone Age; the district Altheim is named after a Neolithic stage of culture, which was about 3800-3400 BC widespread in southern Germany ( Altheimer group).

Incorporations

As part of the municipal reform the formerly independent communities Altheim and Mirskofen were incorporated on 1 April 1971. On 1 July 1972, added upper Wattenbach. On May 1, 1978 followed by Mette Bach and Ohu.
