Etteldorf

Etteldorf in the Eifel is a municipality in the district of Bitburg -Prüm, in Rhineland -Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Kyllburg.

Location

Etteldorf is located immediately southwest of Wilsecker in a wide arc of Kyll.

History

Etteldorf was first mentioned in 893 Prüm land register as Ettellendorpht. In the 14th century, dim Electorate of Trier was the Office Wilsecker, belonged to the Etteldorf. In Trier fire book of 1563 two hearths (households) are for the " yard Etteldorf " recorded, in 1684 only a fire pit. The Kurtrierische sovereignty lasted until the end of the 18th century.

In 1794, French revolutionary troops had occupied the left bank of the Rhine. Under the French administration Etteldorf 1798 was assigned to the Canton Wilsecker that belonged to the Prüm district in Saarland Department.
