F-sharp major

F-sharp major is a key of Tongeschlechts Major, which builds on the root fis. The key of F sharp major is written in standard notation with six crosses ( fis, cis, gis, dis, ais, ice ). The corresponding scale and the basic chord in this key ( the tonic fis - ais -cis) are denoted by the term F-sharp major.

F-sharp major is often described as soft, light and bright, but cf the article key character. In the classical period many composers have used this key as a musical expression of water (for example, Felix Mendelssohn: Venetian Gondola Song ). Works in F-sharp major are relatively rare in the literature.
