Football 5-a-side at the 2008 Summer Paralympics

In the Summer Paralympics in Beijing in 2008 a gold medal was awarded in a competition in a 5 - football. The decisions were made between the 7th and 17th September 2008. The venue was the Olympic Green Hockey Field, home to the also found the Olympic hockey tournaments. For the first time the competition was held in the previous Paralympics in Athens.

Classification

In every game pits two teams, each with 4 field players, one goalkeeper and five substitutes. The fielder must be blind or have a visual impairment. Equality of opportunity to all wear a blindfold. The goalkeeper is allowed to see and bears no blindfold. Behind the opponent's goal, each team has a player who can help by shouting at targets. The ball makes noise during movements in order to determine its position better. They will play two periods of 25 minutes. With a tie, followed by a penalty shoot-out.

Game Mode

Initially, all the teams played in the group stage with only one group against each other. Subsequently, the group first and the second group in the finals played against each other. The third and the fourth group were playing for bronze. The fifth and sixth place was earned under the last two teams in the group.
