Wheelchair rugby at the 2008 Summer Paralympics
In the summer 2008 Paralympics in Beijing medals were only awarded in a mixed competition for men and women in wheelchair rugby. The decisions were taken between 12 September and 16 September 2008 in the University of Science and Technology. The American wheelchair rugby team won the tournament.

Classification
In each game pits two team with four field players and eight substitutes. All players are quadriplegic and have disabilities in three or four of her limbs. Each player has a certain amount of points, which thus expresses his freedom of movement in a wheelchair and the degree of his disability. The classification in 0.5 big steps ranging from 0.5 ( strongest impairment) to 3.5 ( weakest impairment). The total score of all five players on a team on the field must not exceed 8 points. They will play four quarters of 8 minutes. With a tie, followed by a three-minute extension.
