For The Gambia Our Homeland
For The Gambia Our Homeland is the national anthem of The Gambia, composed by Jeremy Frederick Howe and written by his wife, Virginia Julie Howe. It is based on the traditional Mandinka song Foday Kaba Dumbuya and was taken to the Gambia's independence in 1965.
Foday Kaba Dumbuya led jihad against animistic Soninke. It was in 1900, found and killed by the colonial power, the United Kingdom.
