Four Nations Tournament (women's football)

The four- nation tournament is an invitational tournament for women's football teams and has been held since 2002 in January or February instead of in China. Precursor is a 1998 material discharged in Guangzhou tournament. Record winner is the United States with seven titles. For 2012, first dates of the tournament with five participants have been published, in the end it was but again played with four teams, but took part no teams in the top 5 of the FIFA world rankings and 2012 is so far the only year in which participated not reigning continental champions.

Tournaments, which were attended by four teams, there were also other places. So held the DFB 1988 four-nation tournament in Berlin where the A 's national teams of Argentina, Germany, Sweden and the Soviet Union took part. In Brazil, a four - nation tournament for women 's national teams took place in December 2010, in which, alongside Brazil nor Canada, the Netherlands and Mexico participated. In most cases, however, these were one-time events, in addition to the tournaments, might differ in the mode. Even in other sports and youth teams such tournaments are part of the competition program.

Mode

Each team plays each of the other three teams. The winner is the team with the most points. In case of equality, the goal difference and then direct comparison decides.
