Friedrichsthal, Thuringia

Friedrich Thal is a municipality in the district of Nordhausen. It was formed from the merger of the villages Gratzungen and Bliedungen. Furthermore, the small settlement Königsthal belongs to the municipality.

Geography

The nordthüringische community Friedrich valley located in the western part of the district of Nordhausen, about ten kilometers north of the city Bleicherode. The municipal area stretches along the saddle between the two river valleys of the helmets in the north and the Bode in the south, both of which open to the east. Through the district itself flows the Bliedebach, a tributary of the helmets. The villages of the municipality of rows from a left tributary of the helmets starting, south ascending together. The surveys of the area Friedrich valley reach heights of around 300 meters above sea level. NHN ( raspberry mountain: 328.8 m, stack mountain 304 m ). To the west and south of the community are still remnants of a formerly large contiguous mixed forest.

Friedrich valley is bordered by the communes ( clockwise starting from the north ): Hohenstein, Werther, Etzelsrode, Kehmstedt and Lipprechterode.

History

The name of the municipality in 1950, formed from the locations Bliedungen, Gratzungen and King Friedrichsthal comes from an eponymous estate in Bliedungen.

Oldest town in the municipality is Bliedungen, it was mentioned in a deed of the year 970. Therein, the place is called Villa Blidungen in pago Helmogow. Bliedungen later fell through donation to the Domherrenstift Nordhausen.

For Gratzungen the oldest known evidence found in a deed, stating the that the Archbishop Conrad of Mainz in 1184 the monastery Walkenried with their children, leaving a serf and received a hoof country in Graz Ingen in return.

The church was built in 1755 in the district Gratzungen instead of a smaller church, which was demolished.

Since 1994, Friedrich Thal has transferred a portion of the administrative tasks as delegator community to the city Bleicherode ( Fulfilling community). In the period from 1997 to 1999, several building projects were implemented in the context of village renewal program of Thuringia.

Transport links

Due to the locations of the community leads the L 1034, which establishes a connection between the B 243 (municipality Hohenstein, Mackenrode ) and the B80 (municipality Wipperdorf ). In Bleicherode is a motorway junction (A 38 Göttingen -Leipzig ) and a train station ( Bleicherode -east) at the track Halle- Kassel.

Attractions

The village church in Frederick Thal is a half-timbered church. After she was temporarily closed due to disrepair, it was rehabilitated in stages since 2003, was given a new spire and a new Turmbekrönung. The renovation was carried out in-house performance of the parish of association and of citizens of the place. On October 27, 2013, the church was re-consecrated.
