General Obligado Department

The Department of General Obligado located in the northeast of the province of Santa Fe in the center of Argentina and is one of 19 administrative units in the province.

It is bordered to the north by the province of Chaco, in the east, separated by the Paraná River, in the province of Corrientes, in the south of the department of San Javier and the west by the Departamento Vera.

The capital of the department of General Obligado is Reconquista.

Population

According to estimates by the INDEC, the population increased from 166 436 inhabitants (2001) to 191 240 inhabitants in 2005.
