History

Since the mid-16th century George Berg was in the reign Waldthurn erbuntertänige a town in the princely kingdom of County Störnstein among the princes Lobkowitz and came to the Act of Confederation of 1806 by purchasing the Kingdom of Bavaria. In 1848 ended the serfdom of the residents. In the course of administrative reform after the First World War came to the church of 1818, the municipality of George Berg.

Incorporations

In October 1970, there was a vote in the context of a voluntary territorial reform. On January 1, 1971, the former municipalities Brünst, Dimpfl, Neudorf and Waldkirch were incorporated into the municipality of George Berg. Parts of the territory of the dissolved municipality Bern Rich were added on 1 January 1972. Parts of the territory of the dissolved municipality Reinhardsrieth followed on 1 July 1976.

Coat of arms

Blazon: Split and divided the front; above in red a silver embattled walls, below in blue three two one six-pointed golden star asked to rear with green triple mount in silver a red dragon with golden sword in the open mouth.

The emblem has been used since 1982.
