Pirk

Pirk is a municipality in the Upper Palatinate district of Neustadt an der Waldnaab and a member of the administrative community Schirmitz.

Pirk is in the planning region Oberpfalz -Nord.

History

The town was first mentioned in 1092. Pirk belonged since 1349/52 to Landgraviate Leuchtenberg (or later to the court Leuchtenberg ) and from 1646 was part of the Electorate of Bavaria. The Barons of Riesenfeld had here an open Hofmark whose seat was Pirk. In the course of administrative reform in Bavaria, was born with the congregation of 1818, the current community.

Incorporations

On January 1, 1972, until then independent municipality Enzenrieth was incorporated. On May 1, in 1978, parts of the disbanded community Engelshof added.

Mayor Michael Bauer ( CDU). He was the successor of Georg Stahl (CSU ) in 2002.

Coat of arms

Blazon: In gold a rooted green birch, whose strain is a silver shield, is a blue bar, opened.

The emblem has been used since 1973.

Important operations at the site are the industrial company Constantia Hueck films and the Pirker Brauhaus (the latter since 06.2013 sold to the brewery Würth, Windischeschenbach ).

It was in 1998 according to official statistics in manufacturing and 754 in trade and transport, no social insurance contributions at the workplace.
