Gerhard Louis De Geer

Baron Gerhard Louis De Geer Finspång ( born November 27, 1854 in Kristianstad, † 25 February 1935 and Kviinge, community Östra Göinge ) was a Swedish politician who was Prime Minister of Sweden for 121 days.

Life

De Geer was the son of the Swedish Prime Minister Louis Gerhard De Geer and Caronline sergeant. After studying law at Uppsala University he went into politics. In 1912 he joined the Liberala a samlingspartiet. Only two years later, he stepped out again and was no party. In the following years he sat in front of a committee in 1919 campaigned for an 8 - hour workday. As a result, he represented reinforced social democratic views.

When King Gustav V in 1920, a transitional government proposed De Geer took over the position of prime minister for the time until the general election in October 1921. De Geer was not yet supported by the left from the right wing. After a motion of censure De Geer resigned on 23 February 1921.
