Grime (music)

Grime (English for dirt) denotes a derived from the UK style of music that has its roots in hip-hop and electronic music, especially the Step 2.

The result is Grime between 2002 and 2004 in the East End of London. The direction is characterized by its raw, aggressive, and dark sound and all sorts of influences from Drum and Bass, Dubstep, dancehall and American hip-hop. In addition, strong rhythmic and Scenic parallels to Dubstep can be seen. Was particularly marked Grime by two members of the Roll Deep Crew, namely, Wiley, whose single Wot Do U Call It? 2004 was a big club hit and Dizzee Rascal, whose first album, Boy in da Corner was honored in 2003 with the Mercury Music Prize.

The difference to traditional hip- hop is that the debate rather the London or at least widespread in the UK street slang equivalent ( " is dirty " ) and the basic beat tone expressing a verzerrtere expression has.

In Germany itself, especially in Berlin, recently developed a small Grime scene, which is fed mainly by the party series Grime Time. Also, found in the Berlin club WMF regularly with British and Berlin Grime musicians instead. Numerous Berlin bands such as Jahcoozi, let Grime elements in their sound feed. In spring 2007, organized Grime Time a competition with German rappers from the Grime scene, the winner of which occurred Amewu aka demigod in May 2007 in Berlin.
